No, it can be caused by other conditions, for example a ruptured appendix. In 20% of cases no cause is found. http://www.medinfo.co.uk/conditions/pid.html No...PID can be caused by douching which sends organisms further up into the urinary tract.
No. This is false. I was told the same thing when my boyfriend took me to the emergency room because of my severe pelvic pain and inflammation. I had all the obvious symptoms for PID and was told by the emergency room physician that I either had chlamydia or another std. Without any testing he was supposedly certain with his diagnosis of an STD causing my PID. I of course sought follow up care with my obgyn. And had tests run for myself and my boyfriend of all STD's and STI's. We both me back negative for everything! I was furious with the emergency room doctor for assuming instead of looking at the signs and symptoms he went with what he was taught by other cases. If he had done his job, he would have found out that I have a very weak immune system and I contracted PID because a yeast infection became worse with unprotected sexual intercourse and very quickly turned into a bacterial infection that turned into PID . Because I am stubborn and don't have health insurance so didn't want to go to the doctor. Thank goodness my boyfriend took me though. This was awful to deal with but please be reassured that you do not , DO NOT always have a STD accompanied with PID. Always do your research Is my advice. And if something a doctor tells you doesn't feel right , go see someone else! They are just people, able to make mistakes.
You must have had STD in the past that caused the PID.
PID is not a STD; it results from having certain STDs.
Not always, but it is usually associated with a bacterial infection.
Yes - PID is a serious condition caused by an untreated STD.
If a woman had a bimanual exam during the STD screening, then it might detect PID. Simple urine testing will not detect PID.

Pelvic inflammatory disease, commonly called PID, is an infection of the female reproductive organs. PID is one of the most serious complications of a sexually transmitted disease in women: It can lead to irreversible damage to the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, or other parts of the female reproductive system, and is the primary preventable cause of infertility in women.
PID damage is not curable; the bacteria that caused PID can be treated.Antibiotics will be prescribed for the bacteria that caused the PID, but the damage can't be reversed. The damages of PID can't be reversed.Antibiotics will be prescribed for the bacteria that caused the PID, but damage can't be reversed.
A virgin won't get PID.
PID is not passed to others.
Bacteria causes PID.
The only one I can think of with lower abdominal pain is Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). PID is an infection in the uterus. But it's not technically "transmitted" from male to female, even though sexual intercourse can introduce bacteria into the vagina that reaches the uterus. The bacteria doesn't necessarily come from the male.
