Portugal are rich, but not as rich as Germany or Japan, etc. It's because they are part of the EU, which means they get taxes and go towards the economy, also EU are in the G20, which mean Portugal are rich.

Portugal is not among the richest but it's certainly not among poor countries.

Portugal is a developed country with a very high HDI(Human Development Index), a high PIB per capita and a good quality of living.

In conclusion I would say Portugal is a rich country. It's not among the richest and it could be better but it's a very nice place to live.

The middle class in Portugal has a good/very good quality of life.

Not really, it's a mid-wealthy country comparing to the other European ones. It's certainly not one of the richest, but it isn't one of the poorest either.
