St. Nicholas of Myra, not to be confused with the fictional Santa Claus, was a bishop in what is today Turkey. He is noted for his generosity to the poor, especially poor children. At night he would sometimes secretly drop gifts of money through the windows of the houses of the needy. He is also said to have brought three murdered young boys back to life.
