Linear density, perhaps?
Linear density fibrosis is a scarring of the tissue in the lungs. Although it is a disease, it is not contagious.
The relationship between density and temperature is linear. In a thermal expansion, density will decrease and temperature increases and vice versa.
Mass divided by linear displacement (length or distance) is density, often called linear density or lambda.
Linear density in the lungs refers to linear silhouettes located in the lungs. These shadows show up vertically on the sides of the lungs and usually indicate lung damage, such as from smoking or aging.
Linear Density refers to the mass per unit length of a one-dimensional object (e.g. guitar strings) while density refers to any object and indicates how dense or solid something is.

It is the reciprocal of the linear density.
Sony's previous technology was 4- or 8-times oversampling. Their newest thing (as of '07) is the High Density Linear Converter (HDLC). It starts with 64-times oversampling, and does a couple of other nice things, too, and has an overall simpler circuit (which usually helps), so it should be an improvement over straight 8-times. Caveat: I have not actually heard it side by side. But Sony's track record with digital audio quality is excellent (the rootkit debacle notwithstanding), so I would expect it to be a real though subtle improvement.
You need to know the linear density.
