Yes. Thomas Hardy OM (2 June 1840 – 11 January 1928) was an English novelist and poet.

He was highly critical of much in Victorian society, especially on the declining status of rural people in Britain, such as those from his native South West England.

Thomas hardy was a poet in the early 90s. He wrote poems and novels and was influenced by some of the work by William Wordsworth.

no. he is Romantic (in the team of later romantics- Shelley, Byron, Keats), but you can consider him also as a Victorian poet. But he is not modern (modernism) poet.
