Japan is a developed country.. obviously.

Look at their technology. Not only is there technology LIGHTYEARS ahead of what we have in many countries, but their education systems, diet and income per capital are insanely advanced.

Japan is a success story in terms of new technologies. It is light years ahead of the United States. Nations with high technology are also nations of not only economic power but of military power. Japan's defense relies on the high weapons systems of the US. Well educated scientists and engineers are required for this. The US university system is flooded with foreign students to learn about high technology.
