No. Xanax is a Benzodiazipine tranquilizer (as is Valium), commonly prescribed for anxiety, agitation, panic attacks, depression, etc. The generic name for Xanax is Alprazolam. Xanax and MAOI's (monoamine oxidase inhibitor) should not be taken together.
