ZOLOFT IS A SELECTIVE SERATONIN REUPTAKE INHIBITOR.
MAOI's are mono amine oxidase inhibitors and are 'old school' drugs
with more risky cross reactions.

Prozac and Adderall will most likely have few interactive side-effects. Prozac is an SSRI, and acts to allow the brain more time to pick up and consume serotonin, the chemical believed to be responsible for regulation of emotion and a variety of other functions. There is a different TYPE of anti-depressant used less frequently known as an MAOI which acts in a very different way, and an MAOI is a known contraindication of Adderall patients, but Prozac is not. Adderall, which is a mixture of Levo and Dextro-amphetamine salts, acts primarily by increasing levels of dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin. Adderall doesincrease extracellular levels of serotonin in the brain, although the brain acts to maintain balance (homeostasis) and modifies chemical levels based on other factors.
