you have a few options if its a v6 its probably a 4.3 if its a v8 most likely a 305, 350, or a 454 look at the panel in the door or run your vin of the dash through carfax it'll tell you
G.M's 305 cubic inch V8 motor is a 5 liter
Physically it is pretty easy to do, unbolt the block from the frame and lift it out and I think that the flywheel is the same size in both. The problem comes when you get to the electronics. The computer in the car will have difficulty operating the new motor. Unless the 305 has died its really not worth it to replace the block.
