yes, you need bta to travel from UK to the us, bta is refundable, so its just to show that a traveler has the accurate amount of money before he/she will be allowed to travel, my husband was unable to complete his Bta fee, and he was not allowed to get on the plane.
Why do you need a bta fee?
Bta fee, is a declaration fee, required for all travelers before they can be allowed to board a plane, its just to show that a traveler can support him/her self when she arrives at his/her destination. This is correct. It is not required to pay it, you only have to show you have the money to support yourself. The scammers will ask for it and so people post saying it is fake, but you be Nigerian and try to leave the country and you will see what a BTA is. It is discretionary though. The immigration may or may not ask to see it.
