Yes! The cheetah is the most dog-like of all the cats. The cheetah is sometimes called 'the hunting leopard' because of its' use by man. Because of their unusual speed and their easy taming due to their playful and affectionate disposition, they have been kept since 3000 BC as valuable hunting companions by the Sumerians, Pharaohs, Abyssinians, Arabs, Kublai Khan, Mongol Emperors and, more recently, by Russian princes, William the Conqueror and other royalty of Europe and India.
No. Domesticated and adapted to people are two different things. I have adopted many 'feral" cats. They have adapted to me but they very much still act wild. If you take a wild cat from the wild (bobcat, caracal, serval, etc) it will retain all of it's natural instincts but it will adapt to you being it's provider of food and shelter. It will also grow accustom to you but it will very much still be wild. It may not be able to survive in the wild, though, as it was never taught to survive in the wild.
The name Nimrod means “subduer of the leopard” -from Nincr, a “leopard,” and rod “to subdue.” This name seems to imply that as Nimrod had gained fame by subduing the horse, he had also subdued the leopard and used it in hunting (Hislop, p. 44). In India hunting with leopards has been a custom (Wilkinson, v. iii, p. 17). Persian legends show that Hosang (Cush) the father of Tahmurs (Nim- rod) who built Babylon, was the “first who bred dogs and leopards for hunt- ing.” (Sir William Jones’ Works, vol. iv, pp. 341, 353.
