in a word yes. Laptops and desktops of similar type are basically different that the CPU in a laptop is generally smaller and specifically designed as (mobile). The desktop has better airflow and better heat dissipation. To be mobile. ie: a laptop there will always be tradeoffs. That said it doesnt make much difference to the average user as both are faster than we can input. However no laptop regardless of the hye is a true gaming platform.......they just get too hot. The graphics card can never keep up with the latest and greatest as it is not swappable.
Heavy routines as rendering in 3D large filters in Photoshop etc all suffer from the tradeoffs to be portable.
As a rule, desktop computers are less expensive than laptop computers.&Laptop computers, while obviously being more versatile in your being able to take it anywhere you may need it, have one disadvantage evident in that any one component is not easily replaced, as with a desktop model.
A desktop computer is the same as a PC (Personal computer). However, a PC could be a laptop.
Laptop vs desktop in performance is quite easy. A desktop has more performance than a laptop but a laptop could beat a desktop if a user spends around $3,000+.
For the most part, yes they are.
yes
it isn't
It means a computer with Powerful Vdeo and Gaming Capabilities. (A Computer That Operates at More Than 12000231 Mhz.) or in your case, a computer built for media. -Razgriz
No, it's nothing to do with the physical thickness of the computer. The "thin" refers to how beefy/powerful the box is. So an underpowered desktop is more a thin client than a maxed-out laptop.
Yes, much more powerful. So are most ipods.
some people find laptop computers a bit awkward to use, using the mouse pad takes getting used to, the keys/monitor may not be in the right position you are used to, and I think upgrading a laptop may be difficult if impossible, you can buy add ons like a mouse and extra hard drives but then the laptop becomes harder to carry around. Modern laptops are quite powerful but i would say cost more than the desktop equivalents. Ask a friend if you can borrow one for a few days just to see what there like before you buy.
Yes, SO-DIMM memory is more expensive than their Desktop counterparts DIMM....more expensive cause of the technology to make them smaller but almost as fast...

Typically they are more powerful than laptops at a lower cost.
If the same processor is installed on both a laptop and a desktop, then the each of the processors will use the same amount of power. But, usually, in computer companies don't put more powerful desktop processors into their laptops, they usually use a less powerful processor, which would less power than the average desktop processor.
Notebook computers are becoming more popular as the development in technology has allowed for the power of a desktop computer, to be compacted into a smaller body. This is more convenient and, while being more expensive, and slightly less powerful than a desktop computer, these are great for getting tasks done on the go.
If you mean laptop then the advantages of having one over a desktop computer are: -laptops are portable -they can access wifi networks faster that desktop computers -that is pretty much it, the portability and slimness of the laptop makes it less powerful and efficient than a desktop computer
Clarity is the main advantage. Stable environment
Depends on individual cases but generally no. Sure, laptops are portable, but that means you carry around a smaller RAM and less processing power to save volume and weight. But of coarse the most powerful laptop is more powerful than an ordinary desktop.
The same amount of power has to fit in a smaller space.

Desktops are cheaper than laptops and are more powerful. But laptops are portable.
How much memory your computer has depends on the size of the computer and how much memory you purchase, not whether it is a laptop or a desktop. Desktop computers tend to have more room for RAM than laptops because there is more physical space in the computer; however, it is entirely possible to have more memory on your laptop than on your desktop. It all depends on how much RAM you purchase and install on your computer.
