They are proteins, peptides and steroids. The hormones travel through the blood stream and reach the cells. For a cell in the body to absorb the particular hormone they need its receptor. Protein is a type of hormone that contains amino acids. There are several kinds of protein hormones like the human growth hormone for example. These hormones affect the day to day living of the human beings.
