From personal experience I found my two kissing pink gouramis to be very gentle and happy fish, not semi aggressive as they are supposed to be but that is probably due to my large tank and having introduced them as babies. It really depends on your fish since each fish has a different personality, it should work in a big enough tank I would suggest a 40 gallon, but if you notice signs of aggression remove your aggressive fish and return it to the pet store, you don't want any of them to get hurt. Also if the aggressive fish is simply butting his head against the other, but no damage is being done it is okay, you can try and remove him for a while in a separate tank and sometimes some solitary confinement will help calm down the aggressiveness issue! :) Overall though from my experience I think you should be fine pairing the two, mine are with much smaller balloon mollies and don't seem to bother them.

Well sometimes, I have a 37 gal tank with a kissing gourami and a goldfish and a silver dollar so they're like an oddball tank but I wouldn't recommend it.
