Should you get two girl parakeets or two boy parakeets?

Yes. Usually male birds are nicer than females. Why? Because females are more aggressive and tend to be "Queen of the Cage." Also, I was taking care of a female parakeet from a friend while she gets her life in order and a male hooked up with her. For the first time she had to babies and 4 more eggs. I came home from work, they were all dead. and she was biting the heck out of her nesting box. I did not have a clue. Then the male came back and she laid eggs again in her new nesting box, I came home from work and found a female and male pecking the heck out of her head and killed her! Plus, I saw that they destroyed the eggs she had laid. I was appalled! How do I tell my friend that my birds killed her beloved parakeet? Female parakeets can become vicious and the males are much nicer, friendlier and even can get them to mimic talking. They sing more and they love other parakeets, the females, are a different story! If by parakeet you mean budgerigar, two males is usually the best choice. Female budgies are more territorial and aggressive and they can hurt each other, or at the very least annoy you with their constant squabbles. If you get two females, it's best to keep them in separate cages and not let them both out to play at the same time. On the other hand, male budgies can be noisier than females. Some males will warble, chirp, and squawk for most of their waking hours. A single budgie can be a happy budgie if you are the sort of person who likes to spend a few hours a day being with your avian companion.

Male parakeets tend to be easier to tame and dont bite as much.

Females generally nip and are harder to tame however when you do tame both genders they are both wonderful.

Although I got my male first he is still way more tame then my female.

In my experience, females are the "meaner" sex, however, all birds are different and have their own personality. A lot can be said for interacting with your pet bird for a young age. Playing and spending time talking regularly to your parakeet will ensure you have a better relationship with him/her. Also, they don´t like to be teased!
