Is a raccoon part of the bear family?

No, bears and raccoons are not closely related, they are in different families. Raccoons are from the procyonidae family and bears ursidae.

no. raccoons are in family procyonidae (raccoons, cacomistles, coatimundis, kinkajous, and olingos). bears are in family ursidae. both raccoons and bears are in the order carnivora though
