It doesn't matter what size the dog is, if you have to cage it up it'll probably chew/whine/mess everywhere.

How do you care for a roborovski hamster?

You have to be gentle. When you first get them you should do steps. It's really easy to make them hate you. 1. First day, leave them, let them explore their new home. 2) Hand feed them. 3) Attempt to hold them in the cage. (If they don't like it or are not sure, leave them but try again the next day) 4) Hold the outside the cage in a small box. Good Luck.

What do you do if a 16-day-old teddy bear hamster falls onto the floor and constantly rolls over when you take him out of the cage but is fine in the cage?

It is possible that the hamster feels safer in a cage. Open spaces scare him if he has only been exposed to a small space since birth. It is called "institutionalized" and sometimes people get that way too.
