Warts are caused by the Human Papillomavirus. Certain warts for example: Periungual warts (warts in and around the toenails or fingernails) could lead to fungal infections if it reaches the nail bed and could completely remove your nail. If home remedies do not work on this type of wart don't hesitate to contact your doctor for further professional treatment.

'No. Normal warts, like the ones you get on your fingers or toes, are caused by the Papilloma virus."

Though the medics say a virus causes them, this does not match my own observation. I was initially puzzled that all the natural 'cures' for warts are also treatments for fungal infections.

I have had some verrucas on my feet which gave off some 'spores' & I spread by accident whilst applying some cream.

The spores, which I could visibly see, had planted themselves in one leg, my arm & one on my lip. They then started to swell & resemble warts in the early stages. As they were still small, I scraped & pulled out the 'spore' from each one & treated with tea tree oil. They then healed very quickly.

Viruses do not spread by spores - a fungus does!!! So I would say YES, they are a fungus. But I cannot find any site that tells you this.

The thing with any advice is, do the research then observe for yourself. Observation is your greatest tool.
