Acupuncture is a medical and not a religious practice, I can"t see what you would find morally objectionable or singularily sinful in it. on the other hand Yoga has religious origins in Hindusism and there are different schools- Hatha Yoga and Kriya Yoga which might be too spiritually-slanted for comfort. pm tje opther hand acupuncture is a medical and not a religious line. My Mother is a nurse, an RC and while she did not herself have acupuncture done, she did recommend it to patients where she worked and there was no ecclesiastical angle at all.
Acupuncture is a medical practice or exo-medical (outside the usual hospital line) and I don not believe it has any spiritual angles. Therefore I am not aware of any bans or negatory angles on this practice by the Churchmen. I hasten to add my Mother was a registered nurse since l943, and trained in a Catholic Hospital- thus well-acquainted with any religious norms that would have medical applications- or were not looked o with favor Circa l943 they were leery of Psychiatrists- for example- and naturally abortions, etc were over the Red Line- not done at all. I never heard her make any spiritual angles on Acupuncture, and I used to see both medical ( like Occupational Health) and religious magazines ( Sign, Advocate) around the household- so it there was any clash- it would have come up. I"m a writer and often looked at those magazines to get ideas for articles.
The Vatican is neutral on the issue of acupuncture since it is now accepted by many physicians as a legitimate alternative treatment method for some maladies. There is nothing inherently immoral about acupuncture.
Mainstream medicine has been slow to accept acupuncture; although more MDs are using the technique, the American Medical Association does not recognize it as a specialty.
