In defence of CV-19's wonderous exuberance (above), "babysitter" is shown as a hyphenated derivative of the word "baby-sit" in older dictionaries, and continues to show up in newer ones, at least as an alternate spelling, but (and this is, if nothing else, personal opinion), the hyphenated version seems a bit antiquated and clumsy by today's usage. Personally I would not hyphenate this word, and neither would most of the literary world. The language changes and so must we. Egads and forsooth!!
