Yes and no. He was born into a Christian family, but was not very religious. During his years in Rock Music, he got into drug abuse and had a difficult time staying clean and sober. At some point, he was introduced to Nichiren Shoshu Buddhism, and since he began to practice it, he has said it brought him peace and helped him to stay away from drugs.
