Best Answer
  • Breathing (or ventilation) is a physical process.
  • Breathing occurs between the lungs and the environment.
  • It consists of 2 stages: inhalation (drawing air into the lungs) and exhalation (expelling air from the lungs) with the aid of the intercoastal muscles between the ribs and the diaphragm.
  • Respiration is about gaseous exchange (diffusion) and is a chemical process
  • Respiration occurs between the blood and tissues
  • External respiration occurs between the alveoli and the blood capillaries in the lungs. Internal respiration is gaseous exchange between the blood and tissues.

NB: Respiration in this case of the respiratory system is about gaseous exchange. Respiration in the case of life processes is the process through which cells use oxygen to release energy and produce carbon dioxide and water as waste products

Respiration is the process which releases energy from the breakdown of glucose or other carbohydrates, lipids or amino acids. This energy can be used to make Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) which contains chemical energy that is used in biological processes in all organisms, including plants. The process is demonstrated in the formula below: Glucose+Oxygen => Carbon Dioxide+Water+Energy+Heat Whereas, breathing is the process in which oxygen enters the body via the lungs and carbon dioxide is excreted from the body. The oxygen is used for respiration and the carbon dioxide produced from respiration is given out through breathing. Breathing occurs in living organisms, excluding plants.

Breathing is a mechanism of the body that moves air in and out of the lungs. It is just one part of a more complex system that involves the respiratory system and the circulatory system. This can be subdivided into external and internal respiration.

Respiration refers to the process of gas exchange that takes place between air, blood, and tissues of the body. External respiration refers to the exchange of carbon dioxide for oxygen in the lungs; between air and blood. Internal respiration refers to the exchange of oxygen for carbon dioxide on the cellular level; between blood and tissues.

In animals, pretty much yes, but in plants (no, i dont know how) they do it a different way.

What is the difference from respiration and breathing?

Internal Respiration: Is changing food (glucose) into energy. External Respiration: Is breathing in and out.

What are the difference between respiration and combustion?

Respiration is breathing Combustion is burning

What are difference between breathing and respiration?

Both are the Same

What is the difference between breathing respiration and ventilation?

respiration is the process of yainhaling oxygen to the body and provide the cells.

What is the difference between cellular respiration and breathing?

respiration is process of producing energy...but breathing is just flow of air in and out of body

How is breathing different from cellular resperation?

Respiration supplies energy to cells by breakdown of oxygen so is only interacts internally. Breathing is the net movement of gases in and out of the body. The difference is that respiration provides energy for work while breathing provides the reactant for respiration.

What is the difference between breathing and aerobic respiration?

aerobic respiration is the controlled release of energy from food using oxygen whereas breathing is the process by which organisms exchange gasses with the environment.

What is the difference between respiration and breathing?

What is the difference between breathing and respiration? Both breathing and respiration are required for all living organisms. Generally, breathing and respiration are often considered the same. However, there is a great difference between these two words. Breathing is a constant process where you breathe in and out constantly through out the day. It is a process of taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide. Respiration is a process where the body breaks down the oxygen, so that the cells in the body can use it. It is a part of metabolic process also known as catabolic process of a cellular activity where energy molecule is released while carbon dioxide and water are produced. Breathing is a physical process and respiration is a chemical process. Breathing is a process of taking oxygen into the lungs while respiration is taking the oxygen from the lungs into the blood stream or to the cells.
