Why is trans isomer more stable than cis isomer?
Because , Cis isomer are same group on same side of the c=c bond . & those are bulky group on the same side , they are formed steric repulsion to each other then Cis isomer are less stable than trans isomer is same group of opposite side of c=c bond no formation of steric repulsion to each other. and trans isomer is more stable than Cis isomer.....

Which molecule would be more soluble in water CCl4 or CH2Cl2?
ccl4 will dissolve better in water because likes dissolves likes, H2O is non-polar an CCL4 is also non polar where as ch2cl2 is polar(different to water) there for it wont dissolve in water but CCL4 will ^^This is not true: water is polar. Therefore, since CCl4 is non-polar, and CH2Cl2 is polar, and like dissolves like, CH2Cl2 is more soluble.
