Is diesel gasoline a homogeneous or a heterogeneous mixture?
Asked in Chemistry
What an example of heterogeneous and homogeneous?
as it is known that homogeneous substance is a substance that has uniform characteristics and structure, thus we can say that following are the homogeneous substances: pure water kerosene oil diesel all the gases having particular composition, including oxygen, CO, etc. the components of a homogeneous substance cannot be separated by either of physical and chemical methods. heterogeneous substance is a substance that has characteristics reverse to that of homogeneous substance. it includes: mixture of sand and water mixture of sugar and sand ,etc.

Can diesel oil be used in a petrol engine under a lean air fuel mixture?
Asked in Miscellaneous Vehicles, Fuel and Engines
How does diesel fuel ignite in the engine?
The engine's pistons compress the fuel (an air and diesel oil mixture) in the cylinders and the heat generated by that compression causes the fuel to ignite. A longer answer Diesel engines ignite their fuel solely by means of compression: whilst spark plugs are used to ignite the gasoline fuel and air mixture in gasoline engines, in diesel engines the diesel oil and air mixture is compressed to a very much higher degree, which causes a lot of heat. The resulting very high temperature causes the fuel to self-ignite.

Is it possible to run diesel engine by gasoline oil. if possible then afterward what will happen?

Is a gasoline-diesel fuel a good mixture to get more power from a diesel engine?
not at all. that will cause engine damage. gasoline burns at a much lower temperature than diesel fuel so you will get pre ignition. diesel fuel has more useable power in than gasoline. gasoline is rated in octane and diesel fuel is rated in cetane. with diesel fuel the higher the cetane the faster the fuel will burn for a more complete combustion. so if you want more power from a diesel a place to start is a higher cetane diesel fuel. but things like bigger trubos, vgt turbos, injectors, intercoolers have a much bigger effect on power than fuel

What will happen if premium gasoline is put into a diesel engine?

What kind of mixture is petroleum?
Gasoline in diesel engine?
What damage is caused by petrol in a diesel engine?
Serious damage. Any diesel mechanic, would recommend draining the entire fuel system and re-filling it with pure diesel. I do know some guys that add a gallon or two of gasoline to their diesel trucks, meaning big rig semi's, in the winter for easier starting, however their truck's fuel tanks have a 50 gallon capacity. Diesel is a lubricant as well as a fuel. Running gasoline, or a high mixture of gasoline WILL cause SERIOUS damage to a diesel engine, so remove all the gas immediately.

What is the difference in how a normal car engine and a diesel car engine in how they work?
diesel engines compress the fuel mixture much more than gasoline engines, diesel engines are always fuel injected while gasoline engines have the option of being carbureted, diesel engines usually cost more, diesels produce more power than a comparable gasoline engine, diesel engines have no distributor or spark system, and instead use glow plugs to ignite fuel, and diesel engines can be converted to run on vegetable oil with few modifications.
