olive oil is good for your skin because it moisturizes your skin down to all the layers of your skin. It is not the best because it has chemicals in the product. You could use baby oil, it would have the same effect as olive oil yet a bit healthier for skin.

There are many benefits to eating olive oil. Olive oil has been known to help protect the body against Heart disease. You can incorporate olive oil in your diet by substituting vegetable oil for olive oil.

Olive oil is comprised of several chemical components that make it uniquely healthy. There are 3 primary chemical properties in olive oil that contribute to its healthiness. 1) Oleic acid is the healthy monounsaturated fatty acid found in olive oil. It is highly resistant to free radicals. Free radicals are cells that have been damaged by oxidation. These damaged cells injure other cells, damaging their DNA. This damage opens the door for disease. Oleic acid protects the olive oil from oxidation and, when consumed, also protects the body's cell membranes, proteins, and DNA from being damaged by free radicals. 2) Polyphenols are a class of antioxidants found in high quality extra virgin olive oil. These antioxidants are well known for their ability to boost the immune system and have been found to contribute to lowering blood pressure and cholesterol. 3) Monounsaturated fatty acids are the healthiest type of fat. This fat is known for its ability to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels and to increase HDL (good) cholesterol levels. It is very important to understand that extra virgin olive oil is considered the best grade of olive oil and will provide the greatest health benefits.

It is healthier than canola oil or vegetable oil. Both are not great for you, though.
