Grey can certainly be a warm colour. Most people believe the easiest way to get grey is to mix black and white, and this does work.

Artists have been using a somewhat more interesting way to achieve "livelier" greys and blacks.

By mixing colours opposite on the colour wheel, you can get a very nearly perfect black for all situations. If you can get those blacks, you can add a bit of white to get greys.

Warm greys tend to have a bit extra red when mixed with green and a bit extra yellow when mixed with purple. The resultant blacks are "warmer" and therefore the greys derived from then would also be "warmer".

The warmest colour is red, it is at the top of the colour spectrum. Infrared is the colour that comes above red, and infrared radiation is given off by the sun.
