Is green eye colour Rec esive?
To brown eyes, yes.
eye colour is due to polygenic inheritance. 2 genes specify for the green/blue pigments and 2 or more genes encode for the brown pigment. the brown genes mask the blue/green genes. eye colour is purely genetic as it is not subject to environmental influences. it was originally thought that eye colour was controlled by 2 genes, but since the human genome project , it is now known that many more genes are involved.
Rihanna has green eyes with central heterochromia (brown around the pupil) making them a forest green, but their true colour is green. The true colour of them being green originates from her white half-Irish, half-Bajan father and the brown originates from her half-Barbados, half-Guyanese mother. Her unique mixed-race gives her the unique eye colour.
The ability to see colour originates in light. Sunlight is actually colorless. All colours ofo the spectrum are actually white light. The invisible colour of green shines onto grass for example which absorbs this colour and sends the message "green" to the eye. The eye receives the reflected message of green and sends it to the brain. Here's a quote for you: "Color is the visual effect that is caused by the spectral composition of…
light that is reflected is what our eyes see. light is made up of all the colours of the spectrum. each 'colour' has its own wavelength say for example a pear, which is green. we see green because the object has absorbed all the other 'colours' and has reflected only the green colour wavelength, which reaches our eye colour receptors and we see green
