possibly the fact is in the end Katie is last seen holding hunter while he was crying and she then starts to laugh (creepy as hell by the way). The thing is though there is also a possbility he couldn't have survived Katie's Chuck Norris rampage and died at least that what i heard from the alternate endings. All we could do is look to the future for the answers.
