Is it OK to let a cat bat at a fish in an aquarium or is it torture for the fish?

First there are several things you might have over looked in this cat and fish game. If the cat falls into the aquarium, you are going to have a really big mess on your hands. The cat will do what cats always do, and panic! It will climb out by whatever means it can find, (walls, edge of tank,etc.) and in so doing, tip the tank over, maybe hurting itself, terribly. All the fish might be killed, leaving them high and dry, and in the course of this, ruin your floor. The cat should not be allow to bat, swat, pat, or otherwise have it's paws inside a fish tank. It can be the first step to a disaster that will have you driving to the Vet's. office, soaking wet with an injuried cat, (possibly cut by glass) if the tank should break on the way to the floor with the cat in it. This is leaving out, all the fish that are on the floor, among the broken glass. I've seen this happen. It was one of those unbelievable things that happens and you never forget it. Water everywhere. The fish shouldn't have to be stalked in their own home, they can't escape, so it isn't really fair. The cat can watch but not touch! Find the cat some new cat nip toys, and keep it out of the tank. That needs to be a new rule. I've seen what the results can be and it is not pretty.
