MUST REPLACE FACTORY CD PLAYER OR CUT OUT THE SPEAKER LEAD.
you should replace the factory amplifier and that will solve your problem
6x9 is the speaker size.
If the short is in the speaker itself just replace the speaker.
First of all you will need to snip the factory connector off near the speaker(s) you intend to replace. Then it is a matter of trial and error to get the correct polarity. If the polarity is reversed, you will still get sound out of the speaker, however, the tone coming out of the speaker will be higher (little to no bass). If that happens, reverse the wires and mount the speakers.
Remove the right pillar cover. Once removed slide a flat head screw driver carefully between the cover that holds the speaker and the dash cover. You will see 2 separate covers. Pry open slowly from the right side up. You will be able to use your hands. The speaker is held in with screws. I never took my out just unplugged it. Be careful with the windshield when you remove the speaker. Hope this helps How do you replace the front dash center speaker of a 2000 dodge intrepid es that has the factory infinity system?
Remove the factory speaker cover on the inside of the door and remove the 3 screws from the mirror. The speaker cover is held in with 2 clips, one at the top and one at the bottom. They are friction fit clips.
