Lenders will demand payment in full after default after so many days. The amount of time varies depending upon the lender. After such time they will typically repo regardless if you send in the installment. See http://www.boatauctionsinfo.com/bank-repo-boats.html for more details about lender repo's. You can make monthly payments or yearly payments. You can even pay it in full if you have enough money for that. It all depends on the company however.

The W-9 is an IRS Request For Taxpayer Identification Number form. A company making payments to a person/company may be required to file an IRS information return (such as a form 1099) about those payments. In order to complete that return, they need to know the recipients federal taxpayer number. So the company making the payments sends a W-9 to the person receiving the payments. That person completes the W-9 and returns it to the company.

Don't understand what you mean by the phrase, "...voluntary have it returned..." However, as long as the primary indebted party is current in their payments there would be no reason for the loan company to contact you for payments.

Spousal support payments are not a "sure thing," which is a key element in a cash settlement. While the support/alimony is court-ordered it is not guaranteed, and there is no lender or settlement company that wish to engage in chasing down a spouse to secure payments that were assigned to you. You cannot assign the payments to a lender/settlement company.
