Very gray area. While there is a law that states the age of consent is 17, the state permits the parents or guardians of the minor to file complaint, and the adult can be tried for Rape in the Second degree, punishable by 1-16 years in the state penitentiary.

∙ 14y agoFor dating, hanging out and spending time together, it is fine. Sexual relationships are a completely different matter though, so they are probably best avoided at that stage.
