In war settings the taking of life is not illegal. There are several states with capital punishment; the executioners are not violating the law in carrying out a death sentence. There are probably situations in which it can be clearly seen that a person takes the life of another in self defense.
i say, if you want to legally kill someone, join the army......

- Wartime and you kill an enemy
- Self defence when the other person is trying to kill you
- Defending your family/friends when the other person is trying to kill family/friends
- If your job is executioner in a prison
- etc.
