I've been on seroquel 100mg for the past two years and have recently decided to change to Zeldox/Geodon after gradually putting on 9kg. My Psychiatrist tells me that most people lose the weight they put on (depending on how much) quite quickly after stopping seroquel, and for the amount I put on it should take weeks rather than months. I cant really say what the case would be if someone was on a very high dose and/or put on large amount of weight, but hope that helps :)

∙ 15y agoIt can be - seroquel, like many of the other atypical antipsychotics (zyprexa, risperdal, abilify, geodon) can cause weight gain and metabolic syndrome (obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension). Stopping these medications (with the advice of your physician) may result in modest weight loss as your metabolism reverts to its normal state.

∙ 16y agoso far I have found that the only way to lose weight on seroquel is to also be on effexor xr.
It is possible to lose weight on seroquel and not be taking any other drug. You need a lot of motivtion, healthy eating and excerise. I have been taking seroquel for 5 years so I know how frustratring it can be to lose the initial weight gain.
