Is it okay to mix alcohol with Claritin d?
It's not recommended per the packaging because the medicine itself can make you drowsy.
For the record, to anyone looking this up...I drank with this stuff and got SUPER sick. I'm quite the drinker and I can certainly hold my booze. I WAS drinking fast for the night, so I was also drunk...but most of it was from the combination. I've drank enough in my life to know.
About 2 hours in I got the spins so bad I couldn't open my eyes. I went outside for some fresh air and spent the next hour or so throwing up behind a bowling alley sleeping on the ground because I was too dizzy to move.
So, no. Don't drink with it. I'm not the only one this has happened to, I've looked around the internet and its a common reaction.
I'm not a doctor, but in my experience it is safe as long as it is not Claritin D. Claritin is loratadine and Advil Cold & Sinus is ibuprofen and Pseudoephedrin. Claritin D is both of these combined minus the ibuprofen, so I would say it is safe, it has never caused me any problems. Read More

Yes, I was taking Xanax for awhile for anxiety after several panic attacks and my doctor prescribed Claritin for seasonal allergies. The Xanax wasn't a particularly high dose, .25 mg ever 4-6 hours and the Claritin was the standard over the counter 24 hr relief, not the Claritin-D. I did not have any side effects taking these two medications together. Read More

They are not exactly the same. Loratadine is the active ingredient in Claritin (and its generic form), but the "D" in Claritin D refers to the decongestant, pseudoephedrine... so, Claritin D is a combination of loratadine and pseudoephedrine. It's basically like combining regular Claritin with regular Sudafed. If you have no congestion, you don't need the "D". Always ask a doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure or need more information. Since Claritin-D contains both loratadine and pseudoephedrine combined then common sense tells you that you can take both regular Claritin and Sudafed together with no dangerous interactions (but not Claritin-D as you would be then exceeding the recommended dose of pseudoephedrine). Or you can simply buy Claritin-D and save a few bucks. Read More
I wouldn't take Benadryl and Sudafed (Pseudoephedrine) together if you're looking for something non-drowsy. Instead, go to the store and buy Claritin-D or Zyrtec-D. They both have psuedoephedrine in it, which acts as a decongestant. If you already have the Sudafed, then you can just buy the generic version of Claritin or Zyrtec. Wal-Mart offers it on their $4 generic list sold over the counter. Loratadine (Claritin) or Cetirizine (Zyrtec). Read More
