Yes, special order.
temperature gauge not working can be caused by a bad temp sensor in engine, a bad gauge in dash, or a bad fuse
To repair the fuel gauge on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire, start by checking the fuse related to the fuel gauge in the fuse box. If the fuse is intact, inspect the wiring and connections at the fuel tank sending unit for any damage or corrosion. You may need to replace the sending unit if it's faulty, which involves accessing the fuel tank. Finally, ensure that the gauge itself is functioning properly; if not, consider replacing the gauge cluster.
To check the gauges on a Pontiac Sunfire 2-door, first, ensure the ignition is in the "On" position without starting the engine. Observe the dashboard for the speedometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, and warning lights, which should illuminate briefly. Check that the fuel gauge reflects the actual fuel level and the temperature gauge shows a normal reading once the engine is running. If any gauges are malfunctioning or warning lights remain illuminated, further inspection may be needed.
To test fuel pressure on a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire, you'll need a fuel pressure gauge. First, locate the fuel rail on the engine and find the Schrader valve, which is similar to a tire valve. Attach the gauge to the Schrader valve, then turn the ignition key to the "On" position without starting the engine to check the pressure reading. It should typically be around 41-47 psi; if it's outside this range, there may be issues with the fuel pump or fuel filter.

The temperature gauge in a Pontiac Sunfire with a 2.2L engine typically indicates the engine coolant temperature. It should read within the normal operating range when the engine is warm, usually between 180°F and 220°F (82°C to 104°C). If the gauge reads too low, it may indicate a thermostat issue, while a reading in the red zone suggests overheating. Always refer to the vehicle's manual for specific details regarding the gauge and normal operating conditions.
I haven't towed with a Sunfire, but would suspect that it might slow going. I'd keep an eye on the temp. gauge. According to Edmunds, the towing capacity of an 05 Sunfire is 1000 lbs. I'd certainly try to stay well under that ceiling. FriPilot
Well, the fuel pump, as well as the fuel sender unit, are inside the fuel tank. It's possible that the sender was damaged when the pump was replaced. It's also possible that one of the wires was not connected properly, or has come loose. If you had this work done at a shop, take the car back and make them fix it.
To replace the dashboard lights in a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, first, disconnect the negative battery cable for safety. Remove the dashboard trim panel by unscrewing any screws and gently prying it off. Then, locate the bulb sockets on the back of the gauge cluster, twist them counterclockwise to remove, and replace the burned-out bulbs with new ones. Finally, reassemble the dashboard and reconnect the battery.
Oil pressure is low or thereis a defective oil pressure switch. You need to pot a pressure gauge on it when it is hot.
I just ran across this procedure in my Haynes manual while looking for something else. I suggest picking up the manual, as this is a fairly complicated job and is too text intensive to post here. FriPilot
