It is a really good idea. Usually when you remove the cover and remove the old gasket there is a good chance that you will get some foreign object into the engine.
The oil filter gasket is built into the filter itself, so just by changing the filter, you always get the new gasket.
Yes, the gasket should be changed ever time the pan comes off for changing the filter or oil.
I've got a fuel leak coming from my fuel filter and am assuming the gasket/seal is the culprit. What's the best way to change the filter?
No, Fluid, filter, and gasket
yes you have to change the pan gasket when doing the timing chain
Remove the old filter and make sure you remove the old gasket, there should only be 1 gasket.
Make sure you have the right transmission fluid. Changing the fluid will require removing the bottom of the pan and draining the fluid. You will need to replace the pan gasket and it is a good idea to replace the filter. There are kits available with the required parts.
Depends on the vehicle-some have a plug at the transmission pan (NO FILTER REPLACEMENT REQUIRED) Others and most common - youhave to drop the transmission pan to access the filter Change filter clean, pan, magnet, replace pan gasket.
Clean pan, change fluid, filter and gasket if no improvement bring to a transmission shop
the gasket comes built in with the oil filter period! there arent any gasket except the one on the filter . find a new mechanic!
The gasket comes preinstalled on the new filter. Make sure the gasket comes off when you remove the old filter. Apply a think layer of oil to the new filters gasket before installing.
If this immediately followed an oil change odds are it's either the wrong filter or it was "double gasketed", when changing the filter it's pretty common for the gasket from the old filter to stick to the mounting surface and then there is a gasket on the new filter so the oil pressure just pushes the oil between the two gaskets. If this isn't immediately following an oil change, I'd make sure the filter is tight and hasn't been puncture by road debris, then try changing the filter and if all else fails take it to a local independently owned garage.
