If ordered by you physician...yes.. Synthroid is a thyroid supplement given when you thyroid gland is not producing as it should...it would be the same as a person with a normal functioning thyroid gland taking valium.

Yes, these are OK. In fact, since one of the side effects of low thyroid is a feeling of depression, you might be able to cut down on the lexapro in the future. Usually, the first thing a doctor checks in a patient complaining of depression symptoms is whether they have low thyroid hormone levels. Low iron can also cause feelings of exhaustion and sluggishness.

Yes, they have two completely different effects but will work together to improve your energy and help depression.

Antidepressants work on serotonin uptake which relieves depression - Synthroid works on thyroid hormone uptake which relieves hypothyroidism.

Both should be taken only under medical supervision and your doctors and pharmacist should be aware of any other medications you are taking.
