Water can be used in an emergency but there is no corrosion protection
like a mixture of antifreeze and preferably distilled water ( until the corrosion
protection in the antifreeze is " worn out " ) Also , adding just straight water
will dilute the antifreeze so the temperature at which the mixture freezes will
not be as low
As a temporary fix yes, but when flushing and refilling a radiator, be sure to put in a 50/50 mix of water and anti-freeze.
1. Open the radiator cap. 2. Disconnect the top radiator hose. 3. Run the engine for a couple of minutes with the hose off. 4. Insert tap water hose into the radiator where the top hose should be. 5. Run water into the radiator until clear water comes out of the radiator top hose. 6. Continue idling the engine, remove the tap water hose from the radiator, shut off engine as soon as the water stops coming out of the top water hose of the radiator. 7. Reconnect top water hose and fill radiator with antifreeze. Start engine and top off antifreeze.
Never put just straight water in your motor. You want to top off your radiator first then top off your coolant in the reservoir. Water will rust your motor from the inside out.
u need to take both the radiator hoses off the radiator and take a water hose to the top inlet. leave the cap on it. and let water run through it to flush it out.
Among distilled, mineral, and top water, it is usually safe to drink them off. Distilled water is the best option as it has had all contaminates removed and is pure water.
drain the radiator down below the top hose and unhook the hose from the radiator and the engine and pull the hose off.
from the top to the bottom
punto sx radiator drainingRadiator has two hoses. One at the top of the radiator,(The top hose) and a hose at the bottom of the radiator (The bottom hose). Wait until the engine is cool. You need to undo the expansion tank screw top (where you top up the radiator)then release the bottom hose clip (use a screw driver)which allows you to pull off the hose from the radiator expansion tank adjoining the radiator. Make sure you have a bowl underneath to catch the water.
Remove the bottom radiator hose. Stick a hose in the top of the radiator. Turn the water on. Allow the water to run through the radiator and out the bottom of the radiator.
When the thermostat is open the coolant will flow through the top radiator hose in to the radiator and out to the water pump through the bottom radiator hose
follow the top radiator hose till you get to the water neck, take off the water nech and it should be there.
The top hose.
Yes it can!
