I got pregnant when I was 16 and I did live in Oklahoma and no it is not true they still have all of the rights to you I am now 29yrs old and my daughter is now 13 and I am so glad that my mom had rights over me.
AnswerNo, it's not true. Being pregnant/having a child does not emancipate a person. Until the age of 18, you are still a minor and under the control of your parents.

I was trying to get emancipated for numerous reason (not because I'm pregnant) after researching a lot and talking with my boyfriends mother who is a lawyer I found out in Illinois and most states you are automatically emancipated when you give birth. Once emancipated this means you are able to sue, decided where you go to school and make decisions on your own.
Note: No state laws provide for emancipation when someone gives birth. Some states have special provisions that allow a mother to obtain state services for the child. Most states also grant emancipation on marriage.

I'm sixteen. I am pregnant with my first. I don't live there but having a baby does not emancipate you in any state. Your parents still have every right over you. Unless you get emancipated which is really hard to obtain or you get married. If not they have complete control over you. I got married its hard but its worth not having my CRAZY dad constantly stressing me, just be sure that you love the guy.
