Java is not a necessity but there are some websites that will not work properly without it installed and activated. Java needs to be updated often or errors on certain pages will occur. Gaming sites require that it be installed and activated or the games will not operate.

Why do you need java for Facebook?

I am not sure whether you actually need it, perhaps you do. The point is, if any Web site has Java applets - components programmed for Java - then the user must install Java to make it work. Java (and alternative technologies, such as Flash, or SilverLight) make it possible to make "richer" Web pages, i.e., Web pages with more options, and a better visual presentation.I am not sure whether you actually need it, perhaps you do. What is the Difference between JavaScript and Java Applets?

JavaScript and Java Applets are two distinct technologies with different purposes and implementations, despite their similar-sounding names. Here are the key differences between JavaScript and Java Applets: Language and Purpose: JavaScript: JavaScript is a lightweight, interpreted scripting language primarily used for client-side web development. It runs directly in web browsers and is used to add interactivity and dynamic behavior to web pages. Java Applets: Java Applets are small Java programs that are designed to run within a web browser. They are typically used to provide interactive features on web pages, such as animations or small applications. Language Syntax: JavaScript: JavaScript has a C-style syntax and is a dynamically typed language, meaning variable types are determined at runtime. It is executed by the web browser. Java Applets: Java Applets use the Java programming language, which has a C++-like syntax and is statically typed, requiring explicit type declarations. Java Applets are compiled into bytecode, which is executed by the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) in the browser. Execution Environment: JavaScript: JavaScript runs directly in the web browser on the client-side. It does not require any additional installations or plugins. Java Applets: To run Java Applets, the user's browser must have the Java plugin installed. Over the years, browser support for Java Applets has significantly decreased, and they are no longer supported in many modern browsers. Portability: JavaScript: JavaScript is highly portable and works across different web browsers and operating systems, making it a versatile choice for web development. Java Applets: While Java itself is known for its platform independence, Java Applets can be less portable due to browser compatibility issues and the need for the Java plugin. Deployment: JavaScript: JavaScript code is typically embedded directly into HTML files or included as separate external files. It is easy to deploy and update. Java Applets: Java Applets require the creation of a separate .class file and the inclusion of HTML tags to embed the applet. Deployment can be more complex and may require additional security configurations. Popularity and Usage: JavaScript: JavaScript is widely used in modern web development to create dynamic and interactive web pages. It is supported by all major web browsers. Java Applets: Java Applets were once popular for web-based interactive content but have declined in usage due to compatibility issues, security concerns, and the rise of alternative technologies like JavaScript and HTML5. In summary, while JavaScript and Java Applets share some similarities in their names, they serve different purposes and have distinct characteristics. JavaScript is a versatile scripting language for client-side web development, while Java Applets are small Java programs that run within web browsers and provide interactive features. It's important to choose the right technology based on your specific project requirements and the current state of web development trends. AchieversIT offers comprehensive training in both JavaScript and Java to equip students with the skills needed for their chosen career paths.
