Probably not. I suspect that " lateral area means the area of a horizontal section. For example, imagine a sphere of 2 metres diameter. It's lateral area is the area of a circle of two metres diameter. A = (Pi x 2 x 2)/4 = 3.14. It's surface are is (4 x PI x 2 x 2)/4 = 12.57

What is the difference between lateral area and surface area?

the formulas for lateral area dont include the figures bases. surface area does.

What is the lateral and surface area of a right prism?

The lateral area of a prism is the sum of the areas of all the lateral faces. A lateral face is not a base. The surface area is the total area of all faces.Lateral Area: The lateral area of a right prism with base perimeter P and height h is L=Ph.Surface Area: The surface area of a right prism with lateral area L and base area is B is S = L + 2B, or S = Ph + 2B.

What is the lateral surface area of a right cylinder?

The lateral area of a right cylinder is curved surface that connects the two bases. The surface area is the total area of the curved surface and the bases.Lateral Area: The lateral area of a right cylinder with radius r and height h is L = 2pirh.Surface Area: The surface area of a right cylinder with lateral area L and base area B is S = L + 2B, or S = 2pirh + 2pir^2.

How do you derive lateral surface area of cube?

The cube's surface area consists of six squares; you can simply add the area of each of the squares. Note that each of the squares has the same size.

Does a sphere have lateral area?

It is incorrect to say that sphere has lateral area. First sphere do not have sides like other geometric figure. In fact a line or plane can intersect the surface of a sphere in just one point. Sphere has no lateral side. It is enough to say surface area of sphere than lateral surface area of the sphere.
