Lamey-Wellehan was founded by Dan Wellehan and Charlie Lamey in Lewiston on March 17th, 1914. There are now six Lamey-Wellehan family stores in Maine, known for their quality product, their long-serving staff, their environmental activism (They recycle 95% of the material that comes into their company, and have reduced their carbon emissions by 23% between 2004 and 2009.) and concern for their communities. They raised over 10,000 pair of shoes for the homeless in Maine in 2009-2010. The company is now run by the founder's son, Jim Wellehan. Their web site is LWshoes.com. And it is very legit.
