This depends on who you ask, to be honest. In many religions (e.g., Christianity, Islam, etc.), abortion and euthanasia is considered "immoral" since it "plays the role of God." One of the main opposing arguments against euthanasia is that it's an unethical form of population and gene control; it infringes on the rights human beings have to reproduce and create offspring. Additionally, it raises the question of what would be considered genetically "acceptable" and what should be prevented. Should we euthanize the mentally retarded? Fetuses whose mothers have HIV/AIDS? Unborn children who do not meet a certain standard of quality? This is a major conflict with strong ties to subjective and ethical reasoning, often associated with bioethics.

As for mercy-killing, this is more accepted in some cultures, though it manifests in a number of forms. For example, a "mercy killing" in war can be the killing of an ally or enemy who's in pain or in immediate risk of torture. In legal systems, a "mercy killing" could refer to ethical ways of the death penalty.

In regards to the concept of assisted suicide, euthanasia and "mercy-killing" is considered ethical under some circumstances. Many European countries countries have legalized assisted suicide for patients who opting into it before they need it.[1]

Like I stated previously, however, it depends on who you ask. Under a secular Utilitarian moral code, assisted suicide, abortion, euthanasia, and mercy-killings are all acceptable when in the appropriate context, though many times they are independent cases.
