* Technically no. Mormons are Henotheists in that they recognise the existence of more than one God but worship only One. Incidentally this also seems to have been the ancient Jewish POV as well. * No. They believe in the one true God.

Absolutely Not.

The official position of the Mormon church (i.e. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) is that one man is to be married to only one woman.

If a spouse dies or if a marriage ends in divorce, then either person is free to marry again.

There are many things I could type in response to the unfounded and wholly inaccurate statement made below- many, many things. But rather than correcting the false statements and claims on what "mormons" believe, I will simply state that I believe that Christ is the Savior of the world, and that by Him and through Him alone can salvation come. There is no other way, nor means whereby salvation can come. I apologize if that comes off as "pagan". I agree with the statement above. We believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. We know them to be separate individuals but united in purpose. By definition a Christian should be someone who believes in Christ, and we do. Not even all faiths of Christianity believe in faith alone. The Lutherian Church believes it is by your works that you are saved, yet they are not considered pagans. I read and love The Bible and my God is the God of the Bible. Christ is my Savior and the Savior of the world, and it is through him that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father.

If by "pagan" you mean simply "non-Christian," then yes, they are non-Christians. They consider themselves Christians but do not believe in some of the basic non-negotiable doctrines of Christianity, such as: 1. There is only ONE true God. Mormons believe there are many gods and that a human can become a god.

rebuttal: Mormons also believe in only one true God and it is Him alone we worship

2. The deity of Jesus Christ, meaning that He is fully equal to God the Father. Mormons believe that Jesus is a separate being from the Father, a second God, not the exact SAME God as the Father. 3. The way to Heaven is through faith alone in Jesus Christ, not through our works. Mormonism teaches, "We know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do." rebuttal: That is what we believe, but define works...I believe works is doing what God has commanded us, like having Faith in Jesus Christ, accepting Him as our Savior, doing what Christ would do, repenting of our sins, being baptized in the name of Christ, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, remaining faithful to Christ for the rest of our life, etc. I think every Christian would agree that that is what we need to be like/do, if not see James 2:14-26 - it describes how our works i.e. doing what God has commanded of us and being like Christ is essential to complete our Faith in Christ. In the end though, even Mormons believe that all fall short and it is only through the Grace of Christ, or what we call the Atonement of Christ that we are saved. Christ is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no man can reach the Father, except through Him (john 14:6)

So, although Mormons are not pagan in that they certainly believe in God, they are in the sense that it is not the Christian God of the Bible. Some would regard this as pagan. rebuttal: People can believe what they want to believe about Mormonism. I personally do not believe Mormons are pagans, but it is true that if they are not considered either Christian, Jew or Muslim, they are loosely classified as pagan, as is all other religions that do not fit into those categories. I believe Mormons to be Christian in that we believe in only one true God who created us, He sent His son Jesus Christ to provide a way for us to return to live with Him one day, and that it is only through Faith in Christ and adherence to Christ's actual teachings dictated by Him and not voted on by man that one can return to live God and Christ one day. If this still does not make me christian, then I don't want to be their definition of christian.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is often considered Monolateristic, rather than Monotheistic or Polytheistic. Monolaterism is the recognition of many gods but the worship of only one.

Church doctrine states that God the Father and Jesus Christ are separate beings. Jesus Christ is the one worshipped, and salvation comes only through him. Jesus Christ is the creator of the earth, the Jehovah of the Old Testament, and the Messiah of the New Testament. God the Father is the one prayed to, and is the one who's plan it was to make Jesus Christ the Savior and Redeemer of mankind. God the Father is the Father of the spirits of all men. Other gods may exist, but are rarely, if ever, spoken of and absolutely never worshipped. The existence of these other gods is deduced from the Mormon belief that God the Father was once a mortal man just as we are, and that mortal men may become gods, just as God the Father is now. Although there may be other gods, we are only to acknowledge the one who is our Father and Creator, and we are only to worship Jesus Christ, who brings about our salvation.

Not exactly. Mormons believe in God the Eternal Father and in His Son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost. They believe that these beings are three distinct persons, and they believe them all to be divine; however, Mormons direct all of their prayers exclusively to the Father. They never pray to Jesus Christ, and they never pray to the Holy Ghost.

Mormons also believe that men and women are destined to be "joint heirs with Christ" (Romans 8:17); and therefore, to become divine themselves in some way, but always subjects of the Father and never objects of worship.

No. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormon" church) banned the practice of polygamy among it's members over 120 years ago, in 1890. Anyone found practicing polygamy within the church is excommuncated (kicked out).

Technically, Mormonism is neither monotheistic or polytheistic - it is more closely monolatrism. Monolatrists worship a single God (like monotheists) but believe that there may be more than one god (like polytheists).

Mormons believe in and worship God the Father through His Son Jesus Christ, however most accept the possibility of the existence of other gods which are not concerned with our universe. These other gods are not worshipped or honored in any way, simply acknowledged as existing.
