An element is a single type of atom (e.g. Argon). A compound contains multiple atoms bounded together chemically (e.g. Carbon dioxide) and a mixture contains multiple different atoms or compounds not bound together chemically (e.g. air contains mainly Nitrogen and Oxygen, but in separate N2 and O2 molecules).

As such Nitrogen oxide is a molecule of nitrogen bound to oxygen and so is a compound.

No It is an acid I don't think any acids are mixtures. If you was to add nitric acid and sodium (sodium nitrate) then that would be a mixture.

Hope this helps.
