Well the band "Death" is the first band considered to be death metal. -What about Possessed? They came out like 2 years before Death...
Supposedly Florida's Morbid Angel is considered in the founding and development in death metal. I have no clue why the band Death(also from Florida) was answered for being the answer. Death was formed and influenced after from bands like Morbid Angel and the band Possessed.
It is either master or possessed. Possessed released the first death metal album "Seven Churches" in 1985. Many people think its death but it's not.
Death - metal band - was created in 1983.

Dragonforce!!! 8D The guy above me has answered wrongly, Dragonforce is a power metal band, As for me, the most famous Death Metal band I can think of is In Flames.
No it's not..The very First band to be called Death Metal were from Florida in the USA. They were aptly named DEATH.. Unfortunately their founder and singer Chuck Schuldiner died several years ago. This band was around about the time Metallica were first heard outside of the USA in the Mid 1980's.
That's hard to say since the line from thrash metal to death metal is very blurry. Kreator, Slayer and Sepultura are widely known for creating riffs in a rather death metal fashion (more alternate picking, slower note changes). Probably the first of those bands to completely disband the punk attitude from thrash metal were Possessed and Death, so they could be called the 2 first metal bands.
"Venom" is a death metal band
No, they are a death metal band from Detroit, Michigan.
No, FFDP is not a Christian band. The band is classified as heavy metal, hard rock, grooves metal, and alternative metal.
Possessed or Death. There has been great debate as to who really was the first to play death metal. With demos of the two bands ''Death by Metal'' by Death and ''Death'' by Possessed released during the same year in 84', it's clear that they are both the purveyors of the genre. If anything, Death further popularized it with Chuck Schuldiner as the "Father of death metal". But the song "Death Metal" by Possessed may… Read More
Of course NOT! Death metal came about in the 80's, so the oldest death metal fans are probably only in their 40's. And there are plenty of young death metal fans- like me! ...Absolute Rubbish on the age thing. Dude I'm a totally dedicated fan of Extreme Metal, and I'm 51 years old. I'm a vocalist in a band called 1 Foot In the Grave. I've been into Death Metal for over 30 years. How… Read More
In Flames is not an evil band. They are a death metal band, but that does not make them evil.
The best female death metal singer would be from Arch Enemy.
Not at all. Evanescence is an American ROCK band.
No one band created the genre. Overkill was the first band to form in 1980. Don't mistake this with Metallica who formed in 1981. Overkill was formed in 1980 and played mostly covers of punk bands but never got a contract with a record company to release anything until 1985. Although they had written songs, their first demo wasn't released until 1983. The first thrash metal song ever written was "Unlea-------------------------- ^^^^ Forget what that… Read More
Slipknot Slipknot are not 'death metal' they are nu metal. You want a 'death metal' band look into ABACABB, Nile or Job for a Cowboy. Also try The Black Dahlia Murder they are Melodic death metal.

Someone could easily say that bands as old as napalm death and carcass were the first death metal bands that added anything Core to it..be it they were more grind than Death but the argument could be made.
Stryper is the only one I know of that is metal, but no Christian band is going to promote death.
None other than Death itself.
Sepultura is a Brazilian Metal band. The band is sometimes considered Death Metal, or Thrash Metal, or even groove metal. They have drawn inspiration from nu metal, hardcore punk, and industrial metal.
according to there myspace status they are Death Metal / Grindcore / Hardcore so ya pretty much.. a type of heavy metal.
Scar Symmetry is a Swedish melodic death metal band
No i don't think so but it is a death/metal metalcore band.
The heaviest death metal band would have to be Morbid Angel or Deicide. White Chapel is not death metal they are metalcore. Same musical structure but Death Metal is much more difficult, it requires a lot more skill than what metalcore bands could ever require. You should listen to Suffocation and Skinless as well.
This is a very controversial topic, but the year was 1983-84 and the bands were Possessed and Death. Some people would say some other bands but that's them not me.
The first band to play metal was Black Sabbath featuring singer Ozzy Osbourne

The only band I've been able to find is a band on Myspace calling themselves "Food Metal" (see related link at the bottom).
It would probably be the founders of the genre - Possessed. They formed in 1983, and the band is still active today.
Basically, out of the thrash metal scene of the mid- to late eighties. Bands like Kreator, Sodom, and most of all, Death, turned thrash metal into a faster, more technical style that became known as death metal (due to the band Death, deemed to be the pioneers of death metal).
This question can be a bit more ambiguous than you realise. Out of all the band which played Death Metal, Sepultura would be it. However, none of the albums they released during their Death Metal period would be particularly high grossing albums. Out of straightforward, true-to-form Death Metal bands, who haven't deviated away from it, Cannibal Corpse would be the band. As for the so-called Melodeath bands, they're irrelevant.
They're a generic Gothenburg band. Many of these so-called "melodic Death Metal" bands play something which is derived almost exclusively from Power and Speed Metal, and will have little - if any - Death Metal influence, whatsoever (although a few of Arch Enemy's albums to make the occasional nod to old school Thrash/Death).
Dark Tranquility is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Gothenburg.
As I Lay Dying, Blindside, and I Am Terrified are metal. Also, Mortification is a really good Christian death band.
Suffocation...I know a faster band called The Berzerker from Australia they make Suffocation sound like a waltz, check 'em out on their MySpace...They will blow you away. Thirty years have I been a metalhead..long before the band Death was first heard of, and this is the fastest and heaviest band I've ever heard. No contest.
Actually, according to many music expects Blue cheer who released their first album in 1967 is considered the first metal band.
Metalcore/Melodic Death Metal
Gothenburg's finest , In Flames. Likely In Flames. I would say the band Death itself. it is all just opinion anyway.
No, Five Finger Death Punch is a heavy metal band.
Not as far as I know, though depending on the band, it can be associated with satanism. Don't worry, not all death metal bands are Satanist!
Nowhere remotely close. Evanescence isn't even a Metal band to begin with..
