No, sugar and starch are not the same thing, they only have similar characteristics. You may have noticed that they are both alike in color and are both opaque, but they also have differences. Sugar has crystals, but starch does not. Sugar is grainy, yet starch is more smooth and powdery. Sugar and starch also interact with heat differently. Starch will turn black very quickly do to the carbon while the sugar will turn many different colors before turning black.

yes in a plant sugar and glucose are the same but be careful because in a human it is not the same thing because sugar is like what is bad for you and glucose is the sugar in your blood.

Sucrose, glucose, fructose, lactose, and others are all sugars. So while it's true to say that glucose is sugar, not all sugars are glucose.

Flour is considered a starch or technically has starch in it but flour is typically referring to wheat while there are many other types of starch.

ie. Corn starch is much more effective thickening gravy than flour.

Sugar has an immediate but short lasting effect and is often used by sportsmen just before an event.

Starch takes time to have any effect however the resulting energy is slow and controlled but lasts for a lot longer than sugar.

Corn syrup is a thick syrup usually clear, used to sweeten foods.
