well, it depends on a few things. First of all, what type of truck are you driving? What are you going to use the truck for? Do you want fuel economy or raw power? In my opinion, the 350 engine is a great all around engine. I have a 1984 Chevy c10 with a SkyJacker lift kit 48inch sidewinder tires and a Merlin 572 ci engine. I use my truck for hauling a case 590 turbo backhoe on a 32ft trailer, mudding, hauling hay, horses, cattle, and dirtbikes. So I don't get very good gas mileage at all. so it just depends on what you are going to use that motor for.
