The American Revolution was the American people declaring their own sovereignty and independence from England - the Revolutionary War took place because England did not accept American independence without being forced to.

No. the American Revolution was when the United States broke away from Britain.

The War of 1812 was when:

France had a revolution, and became a Republic. Monarchs in the surrounding countries became worried that their people would do the same thing to them. So, these countries went to war against France. (These were the Napoleonic Wars).

Britain was in control of most of the sea at this time. So, Britain shut down France's port. No ships could get in or out.

The U.S wasn't happy about this. They had trade routes with France, so if they couldn't trade with France, they didnt get imports or exports. To retaliate, the US went to war against Britain.

They couldn't sail across the sea to fight Britain, though. So, the US went to war against the nearest piece of Britain: British North America (now Canada).

The Americans took over Canada, expecting the Canadians to welcome them with open arms. The Americans thought that they would help Canada stand up against British rule. They were REALLY wrong. Canada was heavily influenced by the Catholic Church, since the majority of Canadians were French immigrants. the Church opposed Republics, and stood up for the King of England.

The US was mad then, so BNA and the US kept fighting.

The US Civil War was an act of rebellion against a government the South helped to create. The Union's attitude was that this rebellion forced the North to adhere to the US Constitution, and therefore, the South's "takeover" of Federal property and the assault on Fort Sumter was a rebellious and treasonous act. The American Revolution was a war of separation from a motherland that did not respect "civil rights". For all practical purposes, Great Britain was nowhere close to being "democratic" compared to the US Constitution, except for the slavery issue. Since slavery existed when the Constitution was ratified, it would remain sanctioned until an amendment to abolish it was passed.
